DRIPBaR – Lit Droplet

Case Study: The Drip is Lit

1. Concept and Design Development

Bringing the Vision to Life

Using advanced 3D modeling and CAD software, we worked closely with the client to realize their vision of a premium, museum-grade illuminated sign. During this phase, we explored various lighting techniques, ultimately landing on a dynamic moving gradient fade of blues. When paired with the mirror and acrylic accents, the lighting created a captivating interaction with the ambient surroundings, giving the sign an engaging, eye-catching movement. This effect not only brought a sense of interactivity but also called back to the animated movement of the geometric droplet featured on the client’s website—a central inspiration for the sign’s design.

By iterating digitally before physical production, we ensured every detail aligned with the client’s high standards while maintaining feasibility for scaled production.

2. Prototyping and Testing

Perfecting the Vision

With the design finalized, we transitioned to prototyping, working at a quarter scale to test the concept’s feasibility while minimizing waste. This approach allowed us to refine the lighting effects, ensuring they aligned with the intended vision while being mindful of material usage and environmental impact. Through iterative adjustments, we perfected the interplay of the printed and mirrored acrylic tiles, achieving the high-end aesthetic that Dripbar envisioned.

This phase not only validated the technical aspects of the design but also ensured that production would be efficient and sustainable, avoiding unnecessary waste while maintaining a premium result.

3. Production and Implementation

Making Premium Affordable

Once the design was approved, my team and I took charge of creating all the support collateral needed to ensure the product’s success. This included detailed assembly guides, installation instructions, and marketing materials tailored for franchisees. Extensive handoffs to production were conducted to streamline the manufacturing process, along with comprehensive training sessions for the sales department and installation teams to ensure smooth onboarding.

In addition, I worked closely with logistics and purchasing to develop a custom shipping box that ensured safe transit for the illuminated signs. I also implemented processes to track inventory and coordinate supply chain management, ensuring we never ran out of the critical components needed to keep up with franchise orders. These efforts helped scale the product effectively while maintaining its high-end quality and timely delivery.

4. Ongoing Impact and Monitoring

A Beacon of Engagement

The illuminated sign has become a standout feature at DRIPBaR locations, creating a lasting impression on franchisees and patrons alike. Its premium design enhances the visual identity of each location while doubling as a social media hotspot for visitors. Franchisees have celebrated the sign’s ability to elevate their space, while patrons frequently share photos and tag their experiences online, further amplifying the brand’s reach and appeal. The franchisees also loved the ability to change the RGB lighting to correspond with events and holidays.

To ensure the product’s long-term success, I implemented systems for tracking and reporting on its performance throughout its lifecycle. Regular assessments were conducted to confirm the product’s health, addressing any issues such as wear and tear, logistics challenges, or opportunities for improvement. This proactive approach ensured that the sign remained a reliable and impactful centerpiece for franchise locations, with revisions only made as necessary to uphold quality and scalability.
